The Magazine Sr High Rattlers recently suffered heartbreaking losses in their last two basketball matches against Mountainburg and Danville. With only a two-point gap in their final score with the Dragons, Magazine walked away with the scoreboard reading 41-39. Working hard day and night, the Rattlers consistently continue to show improvement on the court. In a handful of their games this season, Magazine has only lost by a few points to opponents with talent loaded rosters proving that the Rattlers can go toe-to-toe with anybody they face on the hardwood.

The Rattlers earned three steals, eight offensive rebounds and 22 defensive rebounds in their game against the Dragons. Kaedon Trejo netted 14 points while earning 12 of those from four three-pointers. Cameron Raggio brought in 12 points. Ashton Droemer snagged seven. And Brady Watson secured six.

On Tuesday, February 4, Magazine faced off with the Danville Little Johns and although they came up short 41-33, the Rattlers know where the mistakes were made and will continue to push themselves to finish the season strong. “We struggled to put the ball in the basket,” explained coach, Buck Chappell. “We can’t beat anyone shooting 27%. We were down as much as 16 and got back to two at one point but turnovers hurt us at crucial moments of the match. The boys worked hard and fought the whole game. I still feel like we can finish this season strong and do something great. I believe in these boys and I won’t stop believing!”

Droemer ended the game with 13 points followed by Raggio with eight, Trejo and Jacob Hall with five each, and Watson with two. The Rattlers also earned eight steals and 30 total rebounds. Magazine now sits 4-14 in total season play, 1-8 in conference, and hold a grand total of 748 points. Next up, Magazine will host the (3-6) Hackett Hornets on Friday, February 7. In the first round of conference play, the Rattlers overpowered the Hornets 47-45 in an over the top round of ball. Tonight, fans are sure to expect the same kind of fight and intensity from both of these teams in round two.
