Waldron Nursing Center residents have been having lots of special activities to participate in since we are observing National Nursing Home Week this week along with all of our ladies having a wonderful Mother’s Day with receiving lots of greeting cards, beautiful flower arrangements, phone calls from family or going out to lunch. The ladies also received a beautiful fresh carnation from R& R Automotive, Roger & Kim Rich, the carnations were all different colors and the smiles on faces grew very big when they were presented with one of the lovely flowers. Thanks to Roger & Kim for bringing these smiles to our ladies. Alex & Pat Morales, volunteer, also helped our art activity girls complete the Mother’s Day cards that they made for all of our ladies. In observing Nursing Home Week Peach Tree Hospice staff brought delicious cakes for all shifts to enjoy.
Last week we celebrated National Nurse Week with recognizing our wonderful Nurses, Patti Roets-RN-Director of Nurses, Anne Mathews-RN-Assistant director of Nurses, Becky Haga-LPN, Alicia Barnett, LPN,Charlotte Belknap-LPN, Nancy Dodd-LPN, Marilyn Dyson-RN, Chantelle Cox-LPN, Kansas Hunt-RN, Brittany King-LPN, Laura Kluthe-LPN, Bridget Lane-LPN, Timary May-LPN, Amenda Naylor-LPN, Amber Owens-RN, Danny Seaton-LPN, Taylor Staggs-LPN, Shelbie Trozzi-LPN, Christina Wagner-LPN. So when you see these nurses be sure to thank them for all the great care they give our residents.
Other events this week was Reminiscence with Diane, Ice Cream Sundaes with Alex, nail painting, Round Table, services with Mike Shaddon, Ray Jett, lots of Art work, morning crafts, Ball practice, Bingo on Wednesday & Friday afternoon with Volunteer Doyle Wayne helping out, Movie in the Day Room, Pat Morales helping out at some of the events. Our Special Wednesday activity of “Pop the Balloon” was great fun, especially those that drew the balloon that someone named Alex had filled with shaving cream, this is the hi-light of this activity to see who the lucky person is that draws these balloons. Each one attending did get a prize of choice thought, jewelry, purse, lap throw or cologne, thanks to all who have donated these prizes to me for our activities. The Ouachita Regional Hospice staff, Serena, was here to do a special activity this week, our residents really like the different events she brings each month.
Another special event this week was the “Carriage Ride” sponsored by Steve and Sandy Tull of Weight Tech here in Waldron. This is always an exciting event for our residents and we had a very big group of residents that were waiting in line to get a ride in the carriage drawn by the beautiful white horse. As everyone waited to get a turn Connie in Dietary grilled some delicious hot dogs on the grill served with a bag of chips and ice cold drink. Thanks also goes to all of the staff who assisted in getting the residents ready for the event as well as assisting them into the carriage. To our Maintenance guys, Warren Davis & Mitchell Freeman for setting up the over head tents so some of the residents could sit out to the side in front of the building while waiting for their turn to ride or just watch as the carriage made the many rounds with its passengers. The residents also enjoyed the fishing day on Friday morning sponsored by the Game & Fish guys at Sodie Davidson Park. We can’t express our appreciation enough to both of the wonderful folks for bringing this “joy” to our residents.
In closing we are so thankful for all of the wonderful things that others do for our residents.
