Waldron Nursing Center residents have continued to enjoy the nice spring weather in the patio area doing some of their group activities of bingo or just socializing with each other along with family members who like to take the residents out to sit for a while.

The swing in front of the building is often quiet busy with several enjoying it when it is warm enough to sit there. Other events keeping everyone busy have been Sunday singing with Winfield Baptist and James Self with his church members, Reminiscence with Diane Miller, Bingo on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon with Volunteer Doyle Wayne coming on Monday afternoon to help out, everyone was proud to see him and glad he was able to come, Alex has certainly been hopping with keeping everyone busy with all of the scheduled events of nail painting, puzzle mania, morning crafts, ball practice, art work, Worship service with Ray Jett.

Ray is another one of our faithful ones who have been providing worship service for our residents once a month for the past several years. Booneville Senior Citizen Support Stocking Revue dancers was also back to entertain everyone with their variety of exercise dances.

Our special Wednesday morning activity of “Horse Races” was a big hit. Alex got the residents teams divided into two groups to start the race. Each team picked a name for their horse, Pink & Blue, because of the color of the saddle each one wore. After the track was set up each one took a turn at rolling the dice to see how many spaces they could move without hitting the line that said go back to start.

There was lots of groaning whenever this happened. In the end the Pink team won the race. After the game ended everyone received a door prize of a beautiful necklace or bracelet from the big collection that had been donated from a wonderful lady for our activities.

Waldron Nursing Center is also joining in with celebrating National Volunteer Week- April 15-21- with a huge “Thank you” for all that each one does to make life more enjoyable for our residents.

Being recognized are Pastors David Hines, Ken Overturf, Mike Shaddon, James Self, Pat Ray Biggs, Grady Parker, Larry Justice, Temple Baptist group, Winfield Baptist & Church members, Roger Sparks & group, Ray Jett, Leon Dotson & Packsaddle group, Linda Lee & Keener Singers, Rick Byce, Serena Loyd from Ouachita Reg.
