Waldron Nursing Center News

Waldron Nursing Center Residents have continued to have lots of
fun with outings. First was the great enjoyment they had at the Fishing Day
sponsored by Game & Fish at the Sodie Davidson Park, joining in with
Daltons Assisted Living tenants. There were several that caught some really big
fish and some that caught not quiet so big. It really didn’t matter the size as
just catching was the thing that really brought big smiles to the faces. We
can’t express how much this means to our residents each year that are able to
go out to the event. There are lots of folks in the community that puts great
effort into this event to bring enjoyment to our residents. Everyone was so
helpful with seeing that our residents had fishing poles as well as well baited
hooks along with casting the lines out to where the big fish were stirring.
Some of our residents just enjoyed going out to the event to just sit in the
shade and watch. Thanks to Alex Carter and Bonnie Thompson for driving the vans
along with other staff that helped with getting the residents ready and out to
the Park. Also to family members of our residents that went along to help out
with their loved ones. Going on this outing was Verna Flynn, Floraine Valentine
with sisters, Wilma and Elaine, Alberta Gathright and son, Leonard, who was
also very helpful at the event, Paul Davis & wife Chris Davis, Janis Hull,
Clayton Burrows, Eula Davis & son, Gary Davis and Dianne Brennan. Mitchel
Freeman who helped haul the wheelchairs and walkers in the Nursing Home truck.
Mac Davis, Game & Fish along with lots of City Officers were on hand to
help bring this enjoyment to our residents.  There was not one person
present that was not appreciated for all the help that was given. The Residents
are proudly displaying the Certificates of Participation that each one
received. I am sure each one that had any part in this event will be greatly
blessed for their thoughtfulness in bringing a day of happiness into the life
of our residents.

Another big outing was the annual Spring outing to Golden Corral
in Fort Smith. Residents going on the trip was  Floraine Valentine, Joyce
Allen, Paul Davis, Janis Hull, James Browning & daughter as guest, Hoyt
Goodner, Cora Owens, Dianne Brennan, Judy Knapp, Joyce Thompson. Staff and
helpers beside myself was Alex Carter, Bonnie Thompson,-Van Drivers- Patti
Roets- Nurse, Jessie Ammons, Pat Morales, Volunteers-Wilma & Elaine,
sisters of Floraine, Chris Davis, Warren Davis, maintenance and driver of the
truck to haul the wheelchairs & walkers. Ken Overturff, Pastor of Waldron
First Baptist, who was so gracious to drive the Church Bus to help transport
some of the residents. We are so appreciative of him being willing to help us
out with this event each year.

Congratulations goes to Becky McCurry-Housekeeping- for being
elected by popular vote as “employee of the month”.

In closing our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Mary Jo Maxey, who we all dearly loved here and will be so greatly missed. We also hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Holiday.
