Residents enjoying a day of fishing.

Waldron Nursing Center Residents had a wonderful time fishing at
the lake in front of Greenhurst Nursing Home in Charleston, AR. Joining several
other nursing homes for the day of fishing and enjoying the wonderful grilled
hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings prepared by the Greenhurst staff.
Going fishing in our group was residents Janis Hull, who caught the first fish,
with a total of 7 fish altogether, Dianne Brennan who caught the second fish
with a total of two fish, Paul Davis caught the biggest fish, a really nice
catfish with a total of four fish, others going and fishing was Hattie Thomas,
Florain Valentine, Hoyt Goodner, assisting on the trip was Chris Davis, wife of
Paul, son Paul Logan and friend, Warren Davis driving the truck to haul the
wheelchairs and fishing gear, also an excellent worm threader and taker off of
fish, Nurse Anne Matthews, Van drivers Bonnie Thompson and Alex Carter, along
with myself taking lots of photos with their prime catches. These will be
posted on the photo wall very shortly. Thanks so much for everyone helping the
residents have a wonderful fishing day. Greenhurst staff are such a wonderful
host in providing this fishing day every year. We also “thank” our own staff
for getting the residents ready to leave on time for the trip as well as
helping unload the vans when we returned. It’s a big team effort when we have
outings like this, but the best reward is seeing the smiles  on the faces
when they get a fish on the line. Warren and the boys are to be commended for
the excellent job they did of helping everyone with their poles and fish.

Other big “Thanks” goes out to R&R Automotive, Roger and Kim
Rich for bringing very big smiles of delight to all of our ladies on Mother’s
Day with the presentation of a lovely fresh carnation to each one of them in
their honor.

Other events included Reminiscence with Diane Miller, Worship with
Ray Jett, Bingo with Volunteer Doyle Wayne helping out, morning crafts with Pat
Morales who helped with finishing the lovely fans from last weeks project. Nail
painting with Alex, another big event is the bean bag baseball game, Dalton
Gang verses Waldron Nursing Center Twisters. Our next outing will be the spring
trip to Golden Corral.

In closing we congratulate Seniors who are connected to Waldron
Nursing Center, employees Karley Thompson, McKayla Thompson, Ashley Custer and
Makenzie Polen, employee family are Trevor Root and Tara Helton.
