Waldron Nursing Center is proud to introduce our new 2019 Queen Madge Hunt. Madge is being crowned by our outgoing Queen Dianne Brennan.
Queen Madge Hunt is 87 years young and has lived in Waldron Nursing Center for the past year. She was born Dec. 13, 1931 in Danville, AR. To Thurman and Della (Pollard) Templeman. She was raised in Arkansas with her 5 brothers and 4 half sisters. She met the love of her life Thurman Hunt in Dutch Creek, AR and they were married for 66 wonderful years. Thurman is now deceased. Together they raised 4 children, one son Rickey Hunt of Waldron, three daughters, Kay Morrow, Perryville, AR, Pam Burke, Wicks, AR and Linda Fowler of Waldron. Madge has 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great Grands.
During her adult life she lived for a little while in Texas but is really an Arkansas girl. Queen Madge received her Nurse Aid License and spent many years caring for others in the Waldron Nursing Home as well as Mitchell’s Nursing Home in Danville.
Madge was also the leader of the young peoples group in her church. She states I just love to serve my Jesus. One big event in her life was having her son, Rickey, become a minister and having him baptize her parents.Her hobbies included working in the yard and canning food to help provide food for her family. Queen Madge also said she would have liked to have rode horses but they always seemed to throw her off.Queen Madge declares the thing she most enjoys is talking to “old” people like me and making everyone laugh. I have always loved to laugh and I also like giving “hugs” to all my family and friends. I love my Nursing Home family and all the workers who are here. She always joins in with the many activities here at the Nursing Center. Madge is a true delight to all who know her.
Queen Madge participated in the District II Nursing Home Queen pageant along with 11 other Nursing Home Queens held at Bell Park Pavilion, Greenwood. She will remain Queen for Waldron Nursing Center throughout this year.
