Waldron Nursing Center Residents, family & friends, Volunteers and staff all gather in front of the facility to wait for the “fireworks” show to begin.
Waldron Nursing Center Residents had a glorious time celebrating the 4th of July Holiday “Thanks” to the many efforts of staff, friends and family who all helped with the donations for buying the fireworks for the outside activity. Alex Carter, Activity Assistant” out did himself with getting this activity together. $378. dollars was collected to buy the fireworks and “thanks” to the Greenwood fireworks along with the great discount given there was enough fireworks to have a wonderful show for our residents.
Donations were received from Cliff & Genevieve Daily,Veta-the visiting Insurance lady, Terri Hattabaugh, Chris & Paul Davis, Charlotte Belknap, Dixie Crump & son Jonathan Hawkins, Connie Kirkendoll, Loretta Pottinger, Barbara Wallace, Shawnee Justice, Chantel Cox, Christine Lees/Activity Department, Marilyn Dyson and an anonymous donor. A “Special” Thanks goes to Volunteers Beverly Byford, Mae Offred, lots of off duty employees who came up to help with the event as well as many family members, Connie Kirkendoll , dietary department for the wonderful refreshments of watermelon and drinks and then the great cook-out she did at lunch time on the 4th. The staff who work on 200 hall needs to receive special recognition for getting all of their residents out to the event as well as dressing them in red, white and blue colors.
There was a very huge crowd of residents who attended and enjoyed this event. To our Maintenance guys for helping make the support boards so everything would be safe for the display.
Other events this week was Reminiscence with Diane Miller, Bingo on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon with Volunteers Doyle Wayne, Mae Offred and Pat Morales all assisting with the activity. Nail painting with Alex doing some magnificent color designs for the July events, Singing with Temple Baptist, Round Table, July Cook-out, with the delicious chicken donated by Tyson for the residents to enjoy at this cook-out, art work, ball practice, Birthday party celebrating July Birthdays, Kellow Holland, Wanda Ferguson, Bob Mays, Eula Davis, Snookie Kalpakoff, Dean Brown, Dorothy Shepard and Antoy Weiche. Worship service with Pat Ray Biggs, lots of July crafts, the art work group made some very interesting non-fire work projects and Ice cream social. Ice cream is always a big hit at any activity.
Other “thanks” goes out to those who have been bringing the stuffed animals for the bingo cart and the great magazines and paper back books for our many readers.
In closing once again I can’t say how big our appreciation is for all/anyone who had any part in helping make this a wonderful 4th celebration for our Residents. I know all will be blessed for helping make life more enjoyable for our Waldron Nursing Center Residents. We are so blessed to have such caring family members, volunteers and staff who help bring this “joy” to our residents daily lives.
