UPDATE: Charleston Boys Win Make-up Game at West Fork on Wednesday to Remain in First Place

The Charleston Tigers traveled to West Fork on Wednesday night to play a make-up game that had been previously postponed last month in West Fork due to severe weather. The Tigers needed to win to maintain first place in their conference over Elkins and Waldron.

The Tigers defeated West Fork by the score of 47-37 and remain in first place in their conference with one game to go in the season, On Friday, Charleston will again be on the road to play at Elkins for a game that will ultimately decide the conference champion or champions, and will finalize the order of the top seeds going into the boys district tournament next week. As of the publication time of this story, the boys conference standings are:

Charleston 12-1

Elkins 11-2

Waldron 11-2

If Charleston wins Friday night, they will be the conference champion and the number one seed in the district tournament. If Elkins defeats Charleston, Elkins and Charleston will share the conference championship, along with Waldron if the Bulldogs can win at home Friday against Greenland.

Friday’s game will be a rematch of the thriller on January 21 at Tiger Center when Charleston won 51-50 on Brandon Scott’s three-point shot at the buzzer. There is no doubt that the Elks feel like they should have won that game, and they will be highly motivated to avenge the loss and gain a share of the conference title. It should be another epic game for both the Tigers and the Elks.
