Sr Bulldogs Bite The Pirates

The Sr High Waldron Bulldogs hosted the Greenland Pirates this past Tuesday night in a highly anticipated basketball match of two divisional heavyweights. The Bulldogs made the Pirates walk their own plank and sailed off with a 56-46 win.

The Bulldogs are sitting 5-2 in season conference play and 15-5 in their total season record. This was a big game for the boys who worked hard and incorporated the perfect plan to sink the Pirates. The Greenland Pirates had 18 turnovers during their game which in turn allowed the Bulldogs to make 19 points from turnovers alone. The Bulldogs had a great night defensively. With the Bulldogs aggressiveness & being quick on their feet they snatched up 20 defensive rebounds. Payton Brown led his team with 21 points and Gada Wagner brought in 10. Jacob Avila added 9 points to the scoreboard while Drew Dozier secured 7. Ruben Valdez and Isaac Villareal put up a combined total of 9 points for Waldron.

The Bulldogs will face off against the West Fork Tigers at home for this Friday nights game. Coach Joshua Brown had this to say about his boys, “We didn’t play our best game and we still have a lot to go back and work on to get ready for West Fork. West Fork is 4-3 and the last time we faced each other we stole one at their place. We have to come out and play with a champion mindset and bring some intensity on both ends of the floor. We are 15-5 on the season and have a lot of basketball left.”

The Bulldogs will stay home for their next conference game this Friday, January 18, starting with the Jr High at 4:30 pm.
