Lavaca High School honors six Golden Arrow baseball players on Monday night during Senior night ceremonies. Jimmy Hall, Colby Clunn, Tyler Armistead, Trevon Moore, Dylan Ellison, and Trey Castor took their home field for the last time to face a conference opponent. However, they are scheduled to play a non conference home game on Monday April 22nd. The game against Hector did not go as planned. The Arrows managed only 6 hits and lost 16-4. Seniors Jimmy Hall and Dylan Ellison along with Junior Jager Wagner led the team at the plate with 2 hits each. For these senior, they will be looking a different outcome when they take the field at Lavaca for the last time, next Monday.
Lavaca also honored four senior Lady Arrows on Monday. Brooklyn O’Kelly, Shelby Kelly, Morgan Taylor, and BethAnn May did take to their home field for the last time on Monday. They played Hector in an extra inning game and came up short, 2-1. BethAnn May struck out 20 Lady Wildcats in eight innings. Seniors Brooklyn O’Kelly and Morgan Taylor, along with Juniors Breanna Winchester and Morgan Taylor led the team at the plate each producing a hit. The Lady Arrows will look to bounce back at Mansfield on Thursday April 18th in a warm up game before the District Tournament starts next week.
It has been fun watching these ten seniors grow and mature over the past four years. The leadership that they have provided has been key to the success of the program. Coach Vire had this to say about his seniors, “All four of our seniors Beth Ann May, Brooklynn O’Kelley, Morgan Taylor, and Shelby Kelley have been very important to what we have done so far this season. They all show what it means to be an Arrow and what it takes to go out every day and compete. I’m happy that I was able to coach these girls just wish I had longer to be with them they have been a joy to be around.”
