On Tuesday, November 26, an inmate at the Sebastian County Detention Center in Fort Smith was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Roger Robinson, 56, informed deputies around 2:15 a.m., that he was not feeling well and needed medical attention.  The deputies took Robinson to the medical station and began providing him aid.

According to SCSO Captain Philip Pevehouse, while in the process of receiving medical aid, Robinson’s medical condition deteriorated.  Deputies contacted EMS and began to prepare him for transport.  While being moved to the administrative area of the jail, Pevehouse stated that Robinson became unresponsive.  Deputies performed emergency first aid, including CPR and the use of an AED.  This aid was continued until EMS arrived and transported Robinson to Baptist Health in Fort Smith.

It was there that Robinson was pronounced dead. Robinson’s death is under investigation by SCSO and Arkansas State Police CID.
