My Heart – National Day of Prayer

Today May 2 2019, is the National day of Prayer. While it is not the goal of the Resident Press to use this platform to impose or impress any one religious view on our readers, it is our goal to keep our readers informed of things that effect our communities. With that being said, I am asking each of our readers to spend time today to reflect on the blessings in our lives, our communities, our Nation, our law enforcement and first responders, and service members.

“God Almighty, I come to you today with all humility and ask that you will provide your blessing on those who are reading this post. Father, You have granted us the opportunity to live in this land. A land that is far from perfect, but with all of its warts and wrinkles is still, as Ronald Reagan stated, ‘a shinning city on the hill’. God there is no other place on earth that has been blessed like this land. I ask that You continue to to bless this land. That you forgive our sin and heal our lands.

Father, I pray for our leaders. From the White House to the Congress, and the State House to the City Halls, Grant wisdom, strength, and integrity. God be with those who protect us daily, whether they are walking “the beat” in our local community or whether they are patrolling the villages of Afghanistan, place a hedge of protection around them and hold them tight.

God, change our hearts. We have homeless in the streets. We have discarded our war heroes. We have turned our backs on your commands. We do not respect the sanctity of life. God, change our Hearts, forgive our sin, unify our nation, and heal our lands.

God, Thank you for the local community that I live in. Lavaca Arkansas is a community where people care about each other. They look out for each other. They step up to lend a helping hand when they see a neighbor in need. I have felt love and friendship here. We don’t always agree but as far as community goes, Lavaca is home.

God I am so very thankful for the family that you have blessed me with. I have a wife who is my best friend, partner, lover, and compass. My children are great kids, each unique and comfortable with who they are. They grow up so fast but each day they provide me joy and happiness just be be apart of their life. You have blessed me with the ability to live in the same town as my parents. It’s a blessing to have them participate with my kids as they grow up.

God you have been so good to me. You have been so good to this community and this country. Please continue to bless. On this National Day off Prayer, this is my prayer and I ask it all in Jesus name…Amen”

Thank you for allowing my to take some editorial privilege in voicing my prayer with all of you. I do believe in the power of prayer.
