MES Hosts Career Week

Monday, January 28, kicked off career week for Mansfield Elementary School. The week was aimed at providing the young students with a glimpse into various career paths.

Throughout the week, first graders learned about photography with MES’s Carla Sharp. The second and fourth graders heard from Officer Turnipseed. Chloe Hattabaugh, Mason Sterling, Levi Langford and Mrs. Himes learned what it is like to be arrested.

On Wednesday, Lee Walters came to speak to fourth graders about his career in hydraulics. First Grade learned about pipeline welding from Josh Allbritton and banking with Chambers Bank employee, Sheri Hopkins.

Career week kept rolling with Susan Martin speaking to the fourth grade about her job at Today’s Bank. Mallory Ward and Jennifer Brunson talked with Third Grade. Ward is an RN at Washington Regional in Northwest Arkansas and Brunson is a preschool teacher in Huntington. First grade had Kristy Bausley speak about her job decorating cakes at CVs. She also demonstrated her decorating skills and gave the students some freebies! Tiger Football Head Coach Craig Bentley spoke about his job, football, and let the students wear some equipment.

Friday wrapped up career week, and the students dressed to model their future profession. Pastor Gary Martin from Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville spoke to MES Kindergarten classes. The Mansfield and Huntington Fire Departments came and visited with second graders.

The students enjoyed the representatives of each field who came to share about their careers.
