On the heels of last weeks tough loss to Greenland, the Mansfield Jr High Tigers will hit the road again to face the Charleston Tigers. Last Thursday’s game was just a bump in the road. The Jr Tigers can overcome anything. That game is in the past and there’s only one direction to conquer the future and that’s by staring straight ahead.
Charleston has been in the lead for decades but this season the Tigers have proven that they have plenty of rations to make the grueling hike to the top and they have no plans of turning back now. Jr High Football Coach, Tim Cothran, gives his opinion of the Tiger vs Tiger matchup. “Charleston is a tough, well-coached opponent year in and year out. We run similar Offenses and are coached in similar manners. We are going to give them our best shot.”
With only four games left of the season, the Tigers still have Charleston, Booneville, Lamar, and Cedarville to play. Although every team on the schedule is tough, Coach Cothran says, “The competition works to bring out the best in us. I tell our 7th graders that high school is a 6-year commitment and that if they stay with us through the thick and thin and continue to work hard, they will get better and will become more competitive. Our Jr High is at the half way point of that commitment and show improvement all the time. Sometimes all a future Friday Night star is waiting on, is a growth spurt. And it will come.”
This is going to be a game you won’t want to miss on Thursday, October 4th. So hit the road with the Mansfield Jr High Tigers as they take on the Charleston Tigers with the game starting at 530 pm for 7th grade and 7 pm for Jr High.
