Mansfield Hosts Tree Lighting on the Eve of Parade

The spirit of Christmas was in the air as the Mansfield choir led the caroling at the tree lighting ceremony on Friday evening, December 6. The event, which came on the eve of the parade, was held at the gazebo. Mayor Buddy Black emceed the program, which is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.

Mansfield First Baptist Pastor Phillip Slaughter shared an inspirational message of Christ’s birth, the reason which we celebrate the Christmas season. Mansfield resident Darlene Boyd was honored as she lit the town’s tree, which was provided by West Fraser.

Following the lighting, everyone was welcomed to city hall for cookies and hot chocolate. This is the second year for the event, and looks to continue to grow and be a part of the town’s tradition.
