Tonight is a big night for the Golden Arrows Basketball program. The Arrows will be traveling to Danville to take on the Little Johns. All four of the Lavaca teams will play tonight and all four teams have a lot on the line. The Junior High Girls are currently in 2nd place behind Mountainburg and need to win this game to keep pace in the conference standings. The Junior High Boys are currently leading the conference at 4-0. They need to win tonight to stay atop of the heap. Both the Senior Lavaca teams are 5-0 in conference and both are tied for first with Danville, which makes tonight’s games for sole possession of first.

Tuesday night the Lady Arrows had three players in double digit scoring. Skylar Hyatt led the team with 19, BethAnn May had 12, and Hope Headley added another 10. Sierra Lamb was stellar on defense and had more than a half dozen steals. After Tuesday nights game against Hector, Coach Wyles had this to say about tonight’s matchup,

“Friday is a big game for us. Danville is very skilled and athletic. We’re going to have to control the boards and limit them to one shot per possession. We’re going to have to do a better job Friday of keeping them out of the lane than we did tonight.”

The senior boys completed a clean sweep of Hector Tuesday night beating the Wildcats 72-35. The Arrows played well on both ends of the court last night. Jayger Wagner led the team with 17 points and Andrew Wright added another 15 points. Both Jayger and Andrew hit five 3’s a piece. Lavaca shut down the defensive end of the court all night. Coach Reed was pleased with the way his team is played Tuesday. After the game Tuesday, coach Reed had this to say about tonight’s battle for first,

“Friday will be tough but I like the way we’re playing right now. We are moving the ball as good as we have all season. Our defensive intensity was better tonight and our offense fed off it. I’m excited for Friday and we will be ready.”

Tonight will be a barn burner for sure. All of the Golden Arrows teams are playing their best ball of the season and should be able to frustrate the Little Johns. You will definitely not want to miss these match ups. Junior High Girls will kick things off at 4:00 in Danville.
