It is game day in Lavaca! The Lavaca Golden Arrows welcome the Magazine Rattlers to town for a conference rematch. These two teams faced off once already this season on December 11th. On that night the Arrows took the Junior girls, and both senior high teams to Magazine and rounded up the rattlers in a clean sweep. The Junior girls won 32-15; Senior girls won 58-33; and the Senior boys rounded out the trifecta by a score of 49-31. Tonight the Junior boys will get their shot at the Rattlers as well. They will start things off at 5:00. The Junior boys have dominated the competition all season. They will look to keep that going tonight.

Lady Arrows dominate the Lady Rattlers Dec 11th

Even with the dominance that the Arrows showed on the first match up of these teams, The Arrows coaching staff is NOT looking past tonight’s game. Coach Wyles acknowledges that the Arrows will need to play a complete game tonight. He told me, “Magazine is very well-coached and won’t do anything to beat themselves. They have a couple girls that rebound really well and can hurt us around the lane if we let them. We’ve had a couple good practices this week and will be be ready to go tonight.” The Lady Arrows are one game back of Danville and need to keep pace, which keep them in striking distance for the number one seed in Conference as they still have a home rematch with Danville.

Coach Reed is also focused on taking care of the business at hand. He sees room for improvement from his team. He told me going into to night, “tonight will be a tough matchup because of their athleticism. Our keys will be to keep them off the offensive glass and out of the lane. I believe we need to play crisp and make better decisions early in the game. Our last two games we have struggled out of the gate for whatever reason. Every game is critical down this late season stretch before district.” The Arrows are currently in 1st place in District and ranked 4th in 2A. The Arrows will need to keep the momentum going as they make a run for a state title opportunity.
