Lavaca High School crowns Mr and Miss LHS… long may they reign! Tonight was the 2019 Mr and Miss LHS pageant at the Lavaca Performing Arts Center. The event started at 7:00 and had five female contestants and three male contestants. For the guys, John Stoll, Tyler Armistead, and James Masterson, Tyler Armistead had to drop out due to illness. The five ladies were, Amber Overstreet, Selena Shelly, Kalista Vissage, Morgan Taylor, and Rylie Green. There were also five Princesses from the Lavaca Elementary School. They were, Chanley Wead, Averie Green, Addilyn Hall, Haylee Muck, and Stella Barron. By the end of the night Lavaca had crowned a new Mister, Miss, and Princess.
Tonight’s event was Emceed by the 2013 Miss LHS and 5th grade math teacher, Mrs Hali Brown. Haylie was also joined by the 2017 Miss LHS, Aleah Hill and the reining Miss LHS, Avery Green, all of whom performed songs for the entertainment. You cant have a pageant without judges, and the Mr. And Miss LHS pageant had three highly qualified judges on hand. Mrs Luana Cauley, Mrs Amy Trusty, and Dr. Elizabeth Woolsey have been pageant judges, contestants, pageant directors, and founders of several pageants in the area. These include, but not limited to; Mt Magazine, Miss Firecracker, Butterfly, and Miss Paris Pageants.
The Contestants were scored in Causal Attire, Talent, Formal Wear, and On Stage Question Competitions. On the Talent portion of the night we saw two magic shows by John Stoll and James Masterson, two dances by Kalista Vissage and Selena Shelly, and three solos by Amber Overstreet, Morgan Taylor, and Rylie Green. The boys looked dapper and the ladies were beautiful in their formal wear. It was a great night of pageantry for sure, but like all good things it had to come to an end. The Judges calculated their Talley sheets and it was time to announce this years winners.
Without further ado, the winners are:
Princess People’s Choice Award goes to Ms Averie Green.
