Lavaca Lady Arrows and the Danville Lady Little Johns meet for the 3rd time this year. They had split the first two meetings. Last nights rubber match was for a chance to advance to the 2A-4 Championship game. This time Lavaca took the early lead scoring in the first two innings and never looking back. The Lady Arrows went on to win by a score of 7-2. Lavaca fired up the offense in the first inning when Jessica Flanagan doubled driving in Brianna Winchester. Flanagan would also score on a RBI ground ball from Kinzee Jo Brown. BethAnn May scored another in the 2nd inning on a Brianna Winchester RBI double to center field. The Arrows added 2 more on the 5th and 6th innings to put the game away. In all, Lavaca totaled 11 hits. Brianna Winchester, May, and Morgan Taylor each had multiple hits for the Lady Arrows. Winchester led Lavaca with three hits in five at bats.
BethAnn May again was solid on the mound and earned the win. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out ten. Allie Bottoms took the loss for Danville. She allowed nine hits and seven runs over five and a third innings, striking out five and walking one.
Both teams will advance next week to the State 2A Regional Tournament. The Lady Arrows, will play for the District championship at 12 noon today against Hackett. This promises to be a great game. Lavaca won the first meeting with Hackett by a narrow margin of 3-2. Look for this to be a pitching battle with two stellar hurlers in the circle. It very well come down to who blinks first.
