Last night was a great night for the Hornets. Not only was it their “Pink Out” game but both Sr High teams brought in home victories. Yup. The Hornets were flyin’ high and feelin’ good. The wins upgraded both teams in their conference play bringing the Hornets to 3-3 and the Lady Hornets to 2-4.
Primarily made up of sophomores, the Lady Hornets blend well together and play with a flawless maturity. Their execution was spot-on last night against the Rebels which was very evident on the court. Senior starters Aubrie Chaney and Taylor Glass led their teammates with poise leading by dominating example on the court. Sophomores Kayla Richardson, Stephanie King, and Faith Thomas also helped contribute to the 56-50 nail-biting victory over JC Westside.
The Hornets wasted little time achieving their mission. They took the lead immediately and held it throughout the entire game. The score read 26-18 at halftime and when their break was over, the Hornets brought with them to the court, a heavy defensive game. Holding the Rebels to 16 points in the second half, the final score read 59-34. Dylan Kats and Brady Hester tied in the points department with 14 each. Avery Hester brought in 12 points. Zach Gragg made 8. And securing a combined 12 points were Tyler Satterfield, Luke Patterson, and Ty Smith.
The Hornets hit the court again when they travel to Danville to “wipe” out the Little Johns on Friday, January 18 starting with Jr High at 5 pm.
