Hackett Hornets Ready to Spear the Dragons

By Megan Hecox

The Sr High Hackett Hornets have hit a few bumps in the road this season. Dealing with injuries and facing schools with bigger rosters, they’ve held strong and handled themselves with confidence. The Hornets are 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play. This Friday night they will be hosting the Mountainburg Dragons who are 3-0 in conference play and 5-1 overall.

Offensively for the Hornets season, they have totaled 2079 yards and 23 touchdowns. Their Defense has stood strong with a total of 452 tackles. And they have scored 163 total points. Friday nights upcoming game is one Hackett has been preparing for all week. Hackett Head Coach, Lonnie Hester had this to say about the game. “Mountainburg has become a big game for us over the years. We feel like if anyone in our conference can beat them, then it’s us. We have them at home and we usually play each other tough. We just need a WIN! A win this week would be huge for us.”

Make your way to Mills Field this Friday, October 19th to watch the Hackett Hornets and the Mountainburg Dragons go head to head starting at 7 pm. Senior Night will start at 630 pm. If you are participating, please be on the field and lined up by 615 pm.
