Georgina Edwards is a fixture in Mansfield.  She exhibits a well known, honest demeanor delivered with simple Southern class. Her uniqueness is paralleled with a commitment to not only the citizens of the Mansfield area, but centered in devotion to her work.
Georgina has spent 30 years in a position of service. Starting at Mansfield City Hall, under Mayor Mickey Chapman, she ran the Senior Citizen aspect of City Hall. Then, fifteen years ago, her role, and position moved to the new Senior Citizen Center located near Johnny Cake park on Highway 378.
Last Friday, Georgina was surprised with a get together at the Senior Citizen Center that kept growing with attendees keeping the door busy with traffic. There was a steady flow of visitors taking time to congratulate her.
“I can’t believe they did this! It’s simply amazing” stated Edwards as she enjoyed the festivities. She also added, “The hardest thing I’ve done in this role over the past 30 years, is watch people pass on that I’ve known my entire life.”
Thank you for your many years of service, Georgina. And, thank you for always having a heart for others. You are special to many people, and a staple to our community.
