Are you having any last minute pool parties before these summer temperatures melt away? Maybe, you have a Labor Day Party planned? This pool side treat is perfect and won’t make you feel too guilty if you indulge!

While visiting in Florida this summer, my sister-in-law made some wonderful pool side treats for my kids. My daughter loved the frozen chocolate covered bananas so much that she begged for me to make them for her birthday party. This is also a fun activity for kids to do at the party! All you need is a variety of toppings to let kids decide what they would like to decorate their frozen bananas with to make it absolutely delicious! You can add chocolate covered apples and strawberries to your platter as well. Kids will get a side of fruit into their daily diet but also a little bit of chocolate for their sweet tooth.

Ingredients:

  • 5 Bananas
  • Apples, Bananas, or Any Other Desired Fruit

Toppings (All are optional):

  • Sprinkles
  • Coconut
  • Crushed Sugar Cookie
  • Yogurt
  • Mini M&M’s

Directions:

Peel 5 bananas and cut each banana into thirds. Next, place bananas into the freezer for approximal 20 minutes. Bananas do not need to be fully frozen, because once the chocolate is ready and melted, you will be ready to eat. However, the bananas do need a complete firmness when pulling them from the freezer after the twenty minutes is up. IF the bananas are fully frozen then it makes it impossible to eat. These treats will need to be ate soon after making. If not, then the bananas will began to unthaw, and it will become a tad messy for kids!

When you have about five minutes until it is time to pull the bananas from the freezer, place 1/2 of the Chocolate Almond Bark into a small pot on the stove. Place heat setting on medium. You will need to continue to stir until it is completed melted. If not, it will stick to your pot. If you do not wish to melt the chocolate over the stove, you can melt it in the microwave. Melt for one minute. Remove and stir. Return to the microwave, and melt for another minute and half. Do not overcook. If you overcook, your chocolate will harden to much and will be impossible to use. Melt until you can stir with no lumps. Remember, this chocolate hardens fast once it is melted, so you will want to have your bananas ready to dip close by.

Next, use a tooth pick and dip bananas (or any fruit) into chocolate, and then add desired toppings. Then, lay fruit on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and place into the refrigerator to allow time to harden, or you can immediately serve to guests. If you desire to have a healthier option, you can dip your bananas in yogurt instead of chocolate. They will need to be placed back into the freezer to freeze for 25 minutes.

Now, you are ready to enjoy!
