From the heart of a local Pastor…

New Life Tabernacle of Huntington, AR

“For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins” Hebrews 10:2 (New King James Version).

Regaining Your Consciousness

By: V. Seth Whitaker

Throughout the Old Testament, while under God’s law, people would make animal sacrifices in order to cover their sins on a yearly basis. No amount of sacrifices or bloodshed could cover what creation desperately needed. It was not until Christ came that remedy arrived on earth. Many are more aware of their failure, past or loss but have no concept of what they have been given through the life of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” ( HYPERLINK “http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+8%3A1″Romans 8:1). When condemnation points to bondage, Jesus points to freedom. Condemnation looks your weakness, Jesus in your strength. Condemnation brings up all the wrong, illness, sorrow, loss and pain. Christ is the future of better days and forgets all that has taken place so that a better day might be revealed!

The believer in Jesus Christ must continually remind themselves that they are no longer under the Law or a “sin-conscious” lifestyle. Through Him all things are made new (II Corinthians 5:17). God has renewed man to Himself. When a person thinks right, they think according to how God thinks about them and according to what Scripture says. This “righteousness-consciousness” must be applied in everyday life so the Christian is affective in their daily walk. Only through the price Christ paid is man made free. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works lest ant man should boast.” All that God gives, He gives freely through Jesus Christ. All every individual must do is believe what He says and know He has the best in mind for them. So many times, when you change your outlook you also change your outcome.

A little about Pastor V. Seth Whitaker…

Pastors Seth and Stephanie Whitaker from New Life Tabernacle

In May of 2018, Seth and Stephanie Whitaker came to pastor New Life Tabernacle. They are originally from Asherville, North Carolina but moved to Greenwood four years ago for Stephanie to pursue her job at Sparks Hospital where she is the Chief Nursing Officer. Seth and Stephanie have two beautiful children, Eli and Ava, who attend the Greenwood Schools.

Seth has been in the ministry full-time for over 20 years and holds a degree in Theology and Christian Ministries through Oral Roberts University. He has also been an ordained Assembly of God minister since 2005. Seth believes that Jesus Christ is the greatest hope for all of humanity. When asked, “what do you think called you into ministry,” his reply was, “I was called into ministry at a young age. I preached publicly when I was sixteen. I guess it was just an inner knowledge that God had His hand on me and was leading me ultimately into the ministry of His desire.”

New Life is a vibrant church that is impacting its community and people of all ages and backgrounds. Service times are Sunday Worship at 11 A.M. and Wednesday night bible study and prayer time at 6:30 P.M.  New Life Tabernacle is located at 216 East Vine Street in Huntington.
