Forecast Predicts Raining Cats and Dogs

By Megan Hecox

The rainy season keeps rearing its head and today is no exception. Not only is it raining cats and dogs off the court but it looks to be raining cats and dogs on the court as well. Tigers and Bulldogs that is. The Jr High Mansfield Tigers and the Waldron Bulldogs will battle it out in an epic basketball showdown. Although Waldron had to face the West Fork Tigers on Tuesday, the Bulldogs know all too well that there is more than one way to skin a cat.

The Jr High boys team might have suffered from the on the road blues in their game against West Fork according to Coach Josh Atchley, after having to play Greenland the night before. “We have to keep working,” says Coach Atchley. “We have taken a few steps forward and in Tuesday nights game, we took a step back. We are still struggling with some inexperience but we are definitely ready to get back out there in tonight’s game against the Mansfield Tigers.”

The Jr High Lady Bulldogs started off their game slow against the West Fork Lady Tigers. By the second half though, they had started to figure it out and were able to hold the Lady Tigers to 7 points. Coach Hannah Scantling says she’s proud of the way the girls responded after halftime and battled it out but that they have to find a way to play aggressive all for quarters. “8th grader Jasmine Nelson has been stepping it up and handling the ball well for the Lady Bulldogs,” says Coach Scantling. “She has really impressed me these last few games. Hopefully, the girls come out ready to battle for a conference win in tonight’s game against Mansfield.”

The Jr High Bulldogs will head to Tiger Country tonight December 13th, to take on the Mansfield Tigers at 4:30 pm.
