On Tuesday evening the Barling Board of Directors named Jerry Foley as Police Chief. Foley said his main goal is to continue moving the department in a positive direction and to get fully staffed.
Foley has been with the department for 10 years and seven months. Throughout that time he has worked his way up the ranks. “I started my career in Roland, OK in 2003 as a reserve officer,” Foley stated. Adding, “When I came to Arkansas, I worked a little while in Central City before coming to Barling.”
In Barling he began as a patrolman, later joined the drug task force as an under cover narcotics officer, then Sergeant, Captain and now Chief. Throughout the yeas he credits the support of his family and community. “I have a very supportive family,” stated Foley. “I had them all here last night when I got voted in as chief.”
The community and business leaders have also rallied their support for Foley. “I have had a lot of support from businesses. That is very important to me to be community minded and I feel blessed,” concluded Foley.
