Expect a Wild One in Waldron Tonight

By Megan Hecox

Tonights the night. The Mansfield Jr High Tigers will hit the road and head south to take on the Waldron Jr High Bulldogs in what is likely to be an exciting football game.

Last season the 7th-grade Bulldogs completely ambushed the opposing teams and emerged with an undefeated 9-0 record. During the Bulldogs match up against the Tigers last year, Waldron made sure Mansfield walked away with zero points ending the game 16-0. Now that those 7th-graders have moved up to play for the Jr High teams, tonight’s game should be a wild one in Waldron.

The Jr High Tigers showed plenty of poise last week against a tough Hackett team in their first scrimmage of the year. Waldron is another formidable opponent with plenty of size and power. With the heat and humidity expected for tonight’s game, the Tigers must remain disciplined and stay hydrated at all times tonight according to Jr High Coach Tim Cothran.

“The guys are always excited to play Waldron. They are always a tough and physical opponent. We have to execute well & stay disciplined against them. The main thing we are emphasizing with the team is hydration. A team our size has to stay healthy during the game and throughout the season”.

Tonight’s game is bound to be a true textbook definition of smashmouth football. The Mansfield Tigers will take on the Waldron Bulldogs tonight in Waldron starting at 5:30 pm.
