Bulldogs Plan To Wreck Havoc On The Court

By Megan Hecox

The Waldron Bulldogs are looking to wipe the floor with the Greenwood Bulldogs and the Mulberry Yellowjackets as they come to town tonight to take on the Sr/Jr High boys and the Sr High girls basketball teams. The Sr High boys played against DeQueen last Tuesday and won 74-43. The win starts the boys off with a 1-0 season. Sr High Boys Coach Josh Brown said “The boys hustled all over the floor. We do have some things to clean up and work on. I’m proud of our guys.” The Sr High girls are anxious to get out there and show what they’re made of as they get to start their season with tonight’s game.

The Sr High boys are preparing to face Mulberry/Pleasant View tonight. Since Mulberry is a non-football school, they bring to the table some good game experience. “Mulberry is another solid team. They have a really good post man who is fundamental and can score in bunches. He is very physical and strong. Their guards handle the ball well and offensively move the ball well. They will be a good match-up for us and will run some different things defensively. The biggest thing for us is to play hard and win every possession offensively and defensively.” says Coach Brown.

The Sr High girls will also be taking on Mulberry in the first game of their season. It’ll be exciting to watch these girls step up and dominate this year considering the team is mostly made up of seniors with a few underclassmen. This will be Sr High Girls Coach Josh Atchley’s first year with these girls. So with a new coach, a new season, and an experienced team, great things are bound to happen! As for the Jr High boys, who will be going against the Greenwood Bulldogs, they will need to stay focused and keep things simple. “Greenwood is a tough basketball team that is well coached. They are big, physical, and athletic and like to push the ball up the floor,” said Coach Atchley.

Tonights Bulldog Basketball Games get started with the 8th-grade/Jr High boys going against the Greenwood Bulldogs at 4 pm. Following after will be the Sr High boys and girls teams taking on Mulberry. If you’re looking for something to do tonight, head out and support the Waldron Bulldogs Basketball teams. Besides, who doesn’t like popcorn, basketball, and victories on a Thursday night?
