Billie Faye Waganer: Young at Heart

Billie Fay Waganer and all her “kids” who attended her surprise party.

Billie Faye Waganer of Waldron was greeted with a surprise on Saturday, May 18. Friends, family and her “kids” of all ages turned out to celebrate her at 90 years young.

Waganer and her late husband Sam pastored several churches including the Waldron Assembly of God. They served in the ministry for 50 years. The couple have one son, two daughters and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friend Patti Roets said, “she is a wonderful Christian woman who is the rock of her family and has influenced many more with her love and generosity.”

After retiring from pastoring the church, Waganer began caring for children in her home. After 30 years, and even at her age, she continues to do so. Any child who spent time in her home was permanently branded as one of her kids.

Waganer, who has been dubbed the queen of Scrabble, has spent countless hours at her dining room table playing the game with her children and grandchildren.

All who know her have found a treasure, a heart for Christ and a caregiver! Happy Birthday Billie Faye!
