The top story in January 2018 was the retirement of Lavaca Police Chief Phillip Beshoner.

Beshoner was a member of the Lavaca Police Department for 17 years. Phillip Allan “Phil” Beshoner went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

He was active in many areas of police work with the Internet Crimes Against Children Division being close to his heart. He was a Deputy U. S. Marshall for five years, served on the Lavaca and Big Creek Fire Departments and was fire investigator for Big Creek. He was a 1972 graduate of Southside High School, an avid golfer, and member of First Southern Baptist Church in Central City, Arkansas.
